Job Description:

Senior role within a Bariatric Program, responsible for complex patient scheduling, coordination, and communication in a medical office environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Answers incoming phone lines for specialty care team
  • Schedules appointments and ancillary studies for patients
  • Obtains authorizations from insurance companies
  • Orders outside ancillary studies or therapy
  • Ensures follow-up appointments are coordinated with ancillary testing or treatment
  • Facilitates physician-to-physician communication
  • Cancels appointments and studies
  • Reviews all studies when returned from digitization
  • Schedules all ambulatory procedures
  • Receives, reviews, documents and routes all external referrals
  • Returns patient calls per APP or physician instructions
  • Assists in the training of less experienced personnel
  • Maintains travel and academic calendars for physicians
  • Receives and manages urgent and emergent requests
  • Performs financial duties such as authorizing or obtaining authorization for insurance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three years' experience in a direct consumer services role with demonstrated ability to resolve problems under stressful conditions
  • Experience handling multiple calls in a stressful environment preferred
  • Previous experience working in a surgical specialty environment preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
