Job Description:

This 0.5 FTE position will have flexibility, in conjunction with the director and site manager, about how the role is structured in terms of work hours. Position located at Condell Medical Center; Libertyville, IL. Part Time, 0.5 status - working 20 hours a week; 1st Shift.

Job Responsibility:

  • Facilitates the timely investigation of select safety events and near miss events through the implementation of apparent cause analysis (ACA)
  • Assists the site safety leaders within their region with completing chart reviews, interviews and review of evidence based literature
  • Conducts confidential interviews with those involved in the events
  • Effectively facilitates the cause analysis process
  • Reviews ACA’s completed by site managers
  • Supports implementation of the site patient safety program including tools that promote reliability
  • Teaches the Culture of Safety presentation to new associates
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with associates and physicians
  • Maintains alignment of site work with system standards
  • Serves as a site patient safety resource to various committees
  • Designs and gives presentation to various committees
  • Authors articles for newsletters or publication
  • Reviews reported patient safety events on a daily basis and recommends those that require investigation
  • Appropriately codes individual cases
  • Ensures timely updates to the system safety data repositories
  • Aggregates site patient safety data to identify trends
  • Assists in preparing site reports
  • Serves as a resource to managers on effective corrective action design
  • Assists in tracking corrective actions
  • Participates in the audits of effectiveness of key corrective actions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or allied health field
  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience
  • Current RN or Allied Health License
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Sound organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and analyze procedure and process changes
  • Self-directed
  • Sound critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Political sensitivity to the dynamic interplay that occurs between departments, physicians, associates and management
