As our Patient Registration Representative, you will provide crucial clerical support for our professional caregivers by expertly managing all functions related to patient registration. Every day you will meticulously handle registration, insurance verification, financial assistance information, and Point of Service Collections. You will also be responsible for accurate data input and record keeping, ensuring the integrity of patient information and financial transactions, while meticulously adhering to all credit card handling processes due to potential access to sensitive third-party credit card information. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and clerical skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with financial regulations. Your ability to accurately manage complex administrative tasks will directly support seamless patient care and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Provide crucial clerical support for our professional caregivers by expertly managing all functions related to patient registration
Meticulously handle registration, insurance verification, financial assistance information, and Point of Service Collections
Responsible for accurate data input and record keeping, ensuring the integrity of patient information and financial transactions
Meticulously adhere to all credit card handling processes
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units
Ensure complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration
Properly identify the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated
Review assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete
Meet CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements
Collect and enter required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information
Carefully review all information entered in ADT on pre-registered accounts
Verify all information with patient at time of registration
correct any errors identified
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Two years experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles
Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and non-government programs
Nice to have
