We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate individual to join our healthcare team as a Patient Registrar in Three Rivers, Michigan. In this contract position, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth patient registration and scheduling processes while providing excellent customer service. This role is ideal for someone with a background in medical settings who thrives in fast-paced environments. This is a third shift role, 11pm-7am, 100% onsite.
Job Responsibility:
Register patients accurately in the emergency department, including those admitted as inpatients or outpatients
Input patient demographic and financial details into the hospital's computer system with precision
Verify insurance coverage and eligibility to ensure proper billing and financial clearance
Collect co-pays and other payments from patients in a detail-oriented and empathetic manner
Conduct interviews with patients or their families to gather necessary registration information
Prepare and manage registration forms, admissions paperwork, and other documentation
Provide clerical and secretarial support as needed to maintain efficient operations
Assist patients with navigation and escort them to various areas within the hospital
Track bed availability and coordinate patient transfers or discharges when required
Support medical records requests in compliance with organizational policies
Requirements:
Strong customer service skills to interact effectively and compassionately with patients and families
Proficiency in data entry with attention to accuracy and efficiency
Basic understanding of medical terminology, with prior experience preferred
Familiarity with insurance verification processes and eligibility requirements
Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Team-oriented mindset to collaborate with other healthcare professionals
Basic math skills for handling financial transactions and co-payments
High school diploma or equivalent required
