Job Description:

Our client in Holyoke, MA, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Financial Counselor to join their healthcare team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in medical financial counseling who are driven to help patients navigate the complexities of healthcare billing and insurance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide patients and families with clear, accurate information about healthcare costs, insurance benefits, and available payment options
  • Assist patients with the completion of financial assistance applications and verify eligibility for various programs
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve billing or insurance concerns in a timely and empathetic manner
  • Educate patients about their financial obligations and support them through the payment process
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards and client policies

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare financial counseling, medical billing, or patient access/admissions role (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of insurance plans: Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial carriers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first mindset
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • High degree of professionalism and sensitivity when assisting patients
