Job Description:

Baptist Health is hiring a Patient Financial Advocate I to join our Single Billing Office in downtown Jacksonville, FL. The Team is a cross vertical group with a number one priority of serving the financial needs of the patients and families of Baptist Healthcare System. The ultimate goal of the Team is to integrate patient financial assistance throughout the healthcare system to provide a seamless patient experience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Essential role as a point of contact for patients in one of the following areas of business- Patient Access (hospital & ED patient facing), BMDA, Contact Center, or Single Billing Office (SBO)
  • Educates patients and parties of their financial responsibility and assist with payment options and collection procedures
  • Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommend alternative sources of payment and financial assistance when appropriate
  • Contact insurance carriers and other sources and act as an advocate for the patient
  • Collaborate with managers, physicians, and servicing departments regarding any delay of service for scheduled physician visits, diagnostic testing, and procedures which have not been approved prior to the date of service
  • Identify eligibility for local, state, and federal programs

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years Customer Service or Insurance experience
  • High School Diploma Required
