Job Description:

A busy acute-care facility is seeking a compassionate and dependable Patient Care Technician to join its nursing support team. In this role, you will provide hands-on support to patients, assist the clinical team, and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and positioning to support procedures and recovery
  • Provide basic, non-medicated patient care such as hygiene support, dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
  • Keep patient rooms, hallways, and common areas clean, organized, and well-stocked
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and environmental logs to support infection control and safety
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly with patients, families, and the healthcare team

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • MediClear Certification (or equivalent HIPAA compliance certificate) required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/BLS) – or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Previous experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or similar direct patient care role preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered, team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Welcomes assigned patients and inquires as to their well-being since their last treatment
  • Obtains necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight
  • Reports any difficulties in cannulation to FMCNA RN as permitted by state requirements
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to the patient treatment
  • Responsible for calculating and entry of individual patients' dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goal
