Requirements

6 months experience, within the last 3 years, in an acute care hospital setting, healthcare clinic, skilled nursing facility, or home health setting as a Care Assistant or Nurse Assistant, medical assistant or nursing student with one semester in clinical setting, or complete hospital patient care training
AHA BLS
Basic computer skills/keyboarding/Medical terminology course or equivalent knowledge

Job Responsibility

Clerical Skills: Competent and proficient in Health Information Systems, supply ordering and departmental data/reports
Technical Skills: Competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice. Includes care of patient drains, tubes, special equipment, ADL's, mobility, Hospital Information System proficiency, I & O, response in emergency
Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system
Organizational Skills: Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills
Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette and manages multiple phone and intercom lines. Uses medical terminology accurately. Includes reporting abnormal or change in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Maintains confidentiality
Self Development: Accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. Completes mandatory education timely

Job Responsibility

Assist in smooth daily operations of the Labor & Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit
May perform direct and indirect patient care including vitals, hygiene measures, and basic care for antepartum, postpartum and newborn patients
Assists with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice
Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures
Maintains supplies and equipment on the unit
Assists with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment
Performs clerical and business support tasks as assigned
Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values
