We are looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to support care operations for a healthcare. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can balance patient-focused service with strong administrative coordination in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will help manage insurance-related workflows, maintain accurate patient information, and serve as a key point of contact between internal teams and managed care partners.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate insurance-related documentation, summaries, and coverage details needed to support managed care activities
Serve as a central contact between the managed care team and internal staff to promote timely communication and issue resolution
Support enrollment activity, verify insurance benefits, and keep authorization records current for assigned cases
Step in during staffing gaps to assist with authorization submissions and follow up with payers on approval status
Maintain the managed care census and communicate authorization timelines, review dates, and documentation deadlines to clinical staff
Assist with obtaining initial insurance approvals for new patient admissions when additional support is needed
Prepare recurring reports related to admissions, reimbursement activity, and other operational metrics
Organize and update managed care reference materials, including plan information and staff resources
Monitor daily admissions for insurance coverage concerns and coordinate follow-up for patients requiring managed care review
Perform general administrative support duties such as document preparation, copying, distribution, and faxing, along with other assigned tasks.
Requirements:
Experience coordinating patient scheduling, appointment support, or related healthcare administrative functions
Working knowledge of patient medical records and the importance of maintaining accurate, timely documentation
Ability to verify insurance information, track authorizations, and follow up with payers regarding case status
Strong communication skills with the ability to assist patients and collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams
Proficiency in handling multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a busy healthcare setting
Comfort with preparing reports, updating shared tracking tools, and managing clerical responsibilities
Ability to provide dependable support in a contract role with permanent potential based in New Hyde Park, New York.
