The Patient Care Coordinator is an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that provides patients with exceptional care. Duties include checking patients in and out, answering incoming patient and referring provider calls, returning voicemails, routing faxes, scheduling patients, processing referrals, checking insurance eligibility, and routing callers to the appropriate team member. The Patient Care Coordinator actively manages patient needs and ensures a seamless end to end experience, while also being the positive face of the practice at the front desk.
Job Responsibility
Answers incoming calls from patients
Checking voicemails and making return calls
Processing new and existing patient referrals and obtaining prior authorization when necessary
Processing faxes
Scheduling new, follow-up, and post-operative appointments
Sending out patient paperwork
Obtaining prior authorization for surgeries when needed
Assisting Medical Assistants with administrative tasks as needed
Rooming patients as needed
Assisting Surgery Schedulers as needed
Preparing for clinic in advance to ensure streamlined operations
Running clinic from the front desk- checking patients in and out
Obtaining and uploading medical records
Assisting patients with billing questions
Conducting insurance eligibility checks
Checking the mail and doing supply inventory for the clinic
Collecting copays and deductibles at the time of service/prior to surgery
Other duties may be assigned if determined in the best interest of the Practice
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous front desk or receptionist experience preferred
Phone, scheduling or call center experience preferred
One to two years of healthcare experience preferred
Strong attention to detail
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers and payers
The ability to multitask and be a team player, helping wherever needed
Strong commitment to actively supporting an ethical open working environment
Working knowledge of Google Drive and Docs
Ability to excel in a team-based environment
