We are seeking a Patient Administrative Specialist to join our team in Palo Alto, California, providing essential support in patient registration and administrative operations within an outpatient clinical setting. This Patient Administrative Specialist is a contract position, ideal for someone with strong organizational skills and a commitment to excellent patient care. In this Patient Administrative Specialist role, you will play a key part in ensuring smooth coordination of patient services, including scheduling surgeries and managing front desk functions.
Job Responsibility:
Schedule outpatient neurosurgical procedures (spine, cranial, and minimally invasive procedures)
Coordinate surgical dates with surgeons and operating rooms
Enter complete and accurate case details into scheduling systems
Confirm surgeon availability, equipment needs, implants, and special instrumentation
Ensure all required preoperative testing is ordered and completed (labs, imaging, medical clearance)
Coordinate with primary care providers and specialists for surgical clearance
Confirm consent forms and documentation are completed
Verify that history & physical (H& P) documentation meets facility requirements
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Previous medical office experience
Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 codes and insurance authorizations
Previous EMR and surgical scheduling platforms
Strong multitasking and communication skills
