The Support Coordinator I is responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and customer service support within a busy outpatient healthcare clinic. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and plays an essential role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate scheduling, and a positive patient experience.
Job Responsibility:
Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner
Serve as the primary point of contact at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming and efficient check-in/check-out process
Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments across multiple providers and specialties
Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls, addressing patient inquiries and routing messages appropriately
Perform patient registration, insurance data entry, and encounter documentation within EMR/EHR systems
Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-ups as needed
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations
Support daily clinic preparation, including organizing schedules and ensuring operational readiness
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient flow and service delivery
Assist with additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or customer service environment
Experience in front desk operations, patient scheduling, or patient access functions
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and basic computer applications
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting
Professional demeanor with a strong commitment to patient service
High school diploma or equivalent required
Nice to have:
Experience working in a specialty clinic (e.g., orthopedics or similar)
Knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, and authorization processes
Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred)
Prior experience in a patient access center or care coordination role
