Job Description

We are seeking a Patient Access Specialist in Chester, CA to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This Contract role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while managing patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and administrative support functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and able to quickly learn new systems and processes in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Register patients and accurately enter demographic, insurance, and medical information into electronic health record systems
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as needed
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments
  • Process payments and co-pays according to established procedures
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls while providing outstanding customer service
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
  • Assist patients with forms, questions, and general office needs
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support smooth patient flow and operations

Requirements

  • 2+ years of previous experience in healthcare administration, medical reception, patient registration, customer service, or a related role preferred
  • Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a significant plus, but not required
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient information
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software systems and technology platforms is essential
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, medical terminology, and healthcare registration processes is preferred

Nice to have

Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a significant plus, but not required
