We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist to join our team in New Haven, Connecticut. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth patient registration, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment. This position requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle fluctuating schedules effectively. Job Responsibility:
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently and accurately, ensuring all required information is collected
Update and maintain patient demographic and financial records while adhering to healthcare regulations and privacy standards
Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments, collaborating with clinical teams to meet facility and patient needs
Verify insurance information and eligibility, ensuring proper documentation for reimbursement purposes
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and resolving scheduling issues promptly
Assist patients with special needs, such as non-English speakers or individuals with disabilities, by arranging necessary accommodations
Monitor and manage waitlists and recall lists to optimize appointment scheduling and minimize gaps
Ensure compliance with organizational protocols, obtaining necessary signatures and authorizations during patient registration
Resolve discrepancies in patient accounts, collaborating with relevant departments when necessary
Stay informed about changes in insurance policies and healthcare regulations to ensure accurate processing
Requirements:
Proven experience in customer service, preferably within a healthcare or fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to address patient concerns effectively
Proficiency in scheduling systems and managing patient appointments
Knowledge of insurance policies and reimbursement procedures
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive patient information
Ability to adapt to fluctuating schedules and prioritize tasks efficiently
Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards
