We are looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this contract-to-permanent position, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth patient admissions and accurate data collection while delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers a dynamic work environment with various shifts available, including a Saturday rotation.
Job Responsibility:
Accurately assign medical record numbers (MRNs) and conduct compliance checks to ensure regulatory standards are met
Collect and verify insurance information, process physician orders, and provide clear patient instructions while maintaining high levels of customer service
Meet point-of-service goals and utilize quality auditing systems to ensure account accuracy and compliance
Perform pre-registration activities by contacting patients to gather demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, including payment collection and past due balances
Explain and obtain signatures for consent and treatment forms, and distribute appropriate patient education materials
Verify insurance eligibility and input benefit details into the system to support billing processes and clean claim submissions
Screen medical necessity for Medicare patients using specialized software and inform them of possible non-payment scenarios
Conduct audits to ensure timely and accurate completion of patient accounts and provide statistical reports to leadership
Adhere to organizational policies while interacting with patients compassionately and professionally
Requirements:
Proven experience in patient registration, scheduling, or similar healthcare roles
Strong ability to assist patients with inquiries and provide clear instructions
Familiarity with medical insurance verification processes and systems
Excellent organizational and auditing skills to ensure data accuracy
Exceptional customer service skills with a compassionate approach
Proficient in handling payment collections and financial discussions with patients
Ability to work flexible shifts, including a Saturday rotation
Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and regulations
