We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Roanoke, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting patients and visitors by providing exceptional customer service and administrative support. Job Responsibility:
Greet patients and visitors with a welcoming attitude, fostering a positive environment
Handle patient registration tasks, including verifying insurance coverage and maintaining accurate records
Coordinate and manage patient appointments, ensuring timely confirmations and follow-ups
Process payments, including collecting co-pays, and reconcile daily financial transactions
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to optimize patient flow and operations
Uphold patient confidentiality by strictly following all privacy regulations and policies
Respond to patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, escalating issues when appropriate
Ensure compliance with healthcare procedures and organizational standards at all times
Assist with additional administrative tasks to support the smooth functioning of the department
Requirements:
Previous experience in patient registration or a similar role in a healthcare setting
Strong understanding of medical insurance verification and processes
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff
Proficiency in using scheduling software and other administrative tools
Knowledge of confidentiality protocols and HIPAA compliance
High school diploma or equivalent
additional certifications in healthcare administration are a plus
