We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to become a vital part of our healthcare team in Roanoke, Virginia. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This is a Contract to permanent position offering the opportunity to grow within a dynamic healthcare environment. PLEASE NOTE: the schedule for this role rotates on a weekly basis, running from 7pm-7am.
Job Responsibility:
Greet patients and visitors with courtesy and warmth, fostering a positive first impression
Accurately register patients by verifying personal and insurance information and updating records
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring timely follow-ups when necessary
Handle financial transactions, including collecting co-pays and balancing daily payments
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to streamline patient flow and operations
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, adhering to privacy regulations
Respond to patient inquiries or concerns with empathy, escalating issues appropriately when needed
Assist in verifying medical insurance coverage and resolving discrepancies
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures in all interactions
Requirements:
Previous experience in patient registration, scheduling, or related roles within a healthcare setting
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff
Proficiency in medical insurance verification and familiarity with healthcare processes
Ability to handle financial transactions and balance daily payments accurately
Knowledge of patient privacy regulations and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
Capability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Proficiency in using computer systems and healthcare software for scheduling and record-keeping
