We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Roanoke, Virginia. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring their experiences are smooth and supportive. This is a Contract to permanent opportunity that offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. PLEASE NOTE: The hours for this role are 11am-11pm. on a rotating schedule.
Job Responsibility:
Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, fostering a welcoming environment
Accurately handle patient registrations, verify insurance information, and update records in the system
Coordinate appointment scheduling, including confirmations and follow-ups, to ensure efficient patient flow
Process payments, collect co-pays, and reconcile daily financial transactions with precision
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to streamline operations and deliver exceptional service
Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all relevant privacy regulations
Address patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, escalating issues to the appropriate personnel when needed
Monitor and manage patient access workflows to ensure timely and accurate service delivery
Assist patients with understanding their insurance coverage and payment options when necessary
Requirements:
Previous experience in patient registration, scheduling, or a related role within healthcare
Strong knowledge of medical insurance verification processes and policies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff
Proficiency in using healthcare management software and basic computer applications
High attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive patient information
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of organization
Familiarity with confidentiality regulations, such as HIPAA compliance
Demonstrated ability to handle financial transactions, including co-pay collection and reconciliation
