Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Patient Access Representative to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. This long-term contract position offers an opportunity to support patients and healthcare providers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring smooth front desk operations and delivering excellent customer service in a local government healthcare setting.

Job Responsibility

  • Welcome patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive and attentive first impression
  • Oversee front desk tasks such as patient check-ins, check-outs, and flow management
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, coordinating with multiple service lines
  • Verify insurance coverage, process referrals, and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Collect co-pays and guide patients through forms and procedural explanations
  • Serve as a communication bridge between patients, clinical staff, and care teams
  • Ensure all patient information is handled with strict confidentiality and compliance
  • Identify and address barriers to access or patient concerns, escalating issues as needed
  • Perform administrative tasks including scanning, recordkeeping, and document management

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in patient access, front desk, or administrative roles within healthcare
  • Proficiency in Epic systems, including patient registration and scheduling, is mandatory
  • Familiarity with high-volume healthcare settings and urban community health environments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with a focus on patient-centered care
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, referrals, and healthcare workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and cultural competence
  • Ability to commute to office locations
