Job Description:

As Pathology Team Manager, you’ll lead daily operations in the pathology lab, ensuring high-quality, timely results that meet GxP and ISO standards. You’ll manage a skilled team, drive continuous improvement, and support study delivery with precision and care.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and coach the pathology team, fostering quality, safety, and engagement
  • Plan and prioritise daily workloads across histology, IHC, and digital pathology
  • Ensure full compliance with GxP/GLP, ISO 15189/17025, biosafety, and data integrity
  • Track KPIs (turnaround time, quality, utilisation) and drive process improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align study timelines and lab capacity
  • Support audits, method transfers, and technology implementation (LIMS, digital tools)

Requirements:

  • Degree in Pathology, Biomedical or Life Sciences
  • advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years in a pathology or histology lab, including 2+ in a leadership role
  • Proven experience in GxP/GLP or ISO-accredited environments
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English
  • other languages are an advantage

  • Liaise and manage relationships with all project stakeholders including Healthcare Organisations and other third-party suppliers where there is a Prime contractor involvement
  • Produce and maintain all project documentation in accordance with PRINCE2 methodology (e.g., Project Initiation Document, Highlight reports, Project Plans etc)
  • Provide weekly project updates for the Programme Manager (and Prime Contractor where required) highlighting any contentious issues / risks and project RAG status
  • Maintain the project risk logs, managing and mitigating our exposure to associated risks and escalate as appropriate
  • Ensure project documents and Customer sign offs on all phases of work are complete, current, and appropriately stored
  • Ensure all post project activities are completed and the project closure checklist is completed
  • Collaborate closely with all appropriate project stakeholders to ensure they have a clear understanding of the Project
