Job Description:

Highly acclaimed Marea, from famed hospitality firm Altamarea Group and located in Central Park South, is looking for skilled and passionate pastry chef to join the team. Meaning “tide” in Italian, Marea redefines the seascape of high-end Italian cuisine and offers employees the opportunity to work with refined Italian desserts, premium ingredients, and an award-winning pastry program in a talented, and growth-oriented environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and execute all assigned pastry menu items with accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
  • Assist in the production of desserts, breads, chocolates, and other pastry elements for service and private events
  • Support daily service, inventory, and restocking to maintain readiness throughout service
  • Ensure all pastry items meet quality, portioning, and presentation standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in pastry areas according to DOH and internal standards
  • Collaborate with pastry and savory teams to ensure smooth service flow
  • Assist with seasonal menu development and tastings when directed by the Pastry Chef
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines while upholding a positive and professional attitude

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of professional pastry experience
  • Strong knowledge of classic pastry techniques and modern plating styles
  • Familiarity with doughs, custards, mousses, and dessert garnishes
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a clean station
  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for pastry and hospitality
  • Flexible availability for AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-volume, high-end environment
  • Must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods (8–10 hour shifts)
  • Comfortable working in varying kitchen temperatures
  • Ability to bend, reach, and walk up and down stairs as required
