Job Description:

We are looking to offer a full-time permanent contract for a pastoral officer to join our academy as part of the safeguarding team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the DSL, 2 other safeguarding officers and a senior pastoral officer. The safeguarding team identify pupils at risk and provide comprehensive advice, support and proactive action to ensure that pupils are as safe as possible following KCSIE. This role will involve both on site and off site work and you will plan your own diary. You must be willing to cover the whole of the north of Derbyshire as your area if allocated to this. You may be allocated sites in Chapel-en-le-Frith and/or Chesterfield. You will also support attendance, as poor attendance is a safeguarding concern. The successful candidate will work with pupils, their families, our sites, APs, social care and supporting agencies to identify concerns and coordinate plans to overcome these. You must be able to provide a high quality and robust safeguarding service to the academy.

Job Responsibility:

  • Share relevant information with teaching staff
  • May transport pupils in own car

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting
  • Affinity for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • Resilient
  • High expectations
  • Sense of humour
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and their families
  • Ability to represent the academy in meetings with external professionals
  • Access to a car and business insurance included
  • Driving licence required
