Job Description

Do you have the leadership skills and pastoral experience to support students’ wellbeing and behaviour in a specialist school setting? GSL Education are seeking a confident and experienced Pastoral Manager to work in a specialist provision in Wakefield (WF4). This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Pastoral Manager who can provide strong pastoral support, promote positive behaviour, and help students overcome barriers to learning. As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, support staff, and senior leaders to ensure students receive the guidance and structure they need to succeed.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide pastoral support to students across the school
  • Manage behaviour and support positive behaviour strategies
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Support attendance, wellbeing, and engagement
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience in a Pastoral, Behaviour, or Support role within a school or similar setting
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Confident, calm, and resilient approach
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
