A specialist SEMH provision in Newark supporting students with trauma-related needs, focusing on rebuilding engagement with education through a therapeutic and relationship-led approach. The setting provides a structured, supportive environment where students are helped to regulate emotions, develop coping strategies, and build trust with consistent adults. This role centres on providing pastoral and emotional support alongside learning, helping students feel safe and ready to access education.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide consistent pastoral and emotional support to students with SEMH and trauma-related needs
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to support regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to help students feel safe, understood, and supported
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure strategies are consistent and responsive to individual needs

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and approaches to supporting emotional wellbeing
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Education, or similar fields
