Job Responsibility:

  • Assists customers by identifying solid waste material type, determining appropriate cost, and appropriate disposal
  • Distinguishes waste material from recyclable materials and offers instruction to customers as to proper sorting and disposal
  • Maintains clean work station at the convenience center
  • Calculates garbage fee totals on the spot and makes correct change to customers
  • Counts cash collected and keeps daily log
  • Responds to customer inquiries and provides information regarding items acceptable and unacceptable at the Union County Convenience Centers at the Solid Waste Management Facility
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to maintain safe driving history
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned
  • Capable of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Able to operate a calculator
  • Good customer service skills
  • High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Valid driver's license with ability to maintain safe driving history
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and guidelines
