Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Part Time Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Mateo, California. This position is essential to providing support during the busy year-end and early-year accounting periods. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial processes, reconciliations, and compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and systems. This is a 2-3 month contract assignment and requires onsite work in San Mateo. The hours may fluctuate between 15-30 hours per week.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage accounts payable (AP) processes, including entering invoices and verifying documentation
  • Process purchase orders (POs) and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Conduct detailed year-end reconciliations and cleanup tasks to ensure accurate financial records
  • Assist with general ledger (GL) reviews and resolve any discrepancies or errors
  • Support revenue reconciliation and provide accurate reporting
  • Perform administrative accounting tasks, such as organizing and filing expense reimbursement documentation
  • Utilize NetSuite for data checks, reporting, and cash applications
  • Collaborate with the finance team to address miscellaneous accounting and reconciliation needs
  • Track and file missing documentation to maintain compliance and streamline processes
  • Contribute to month-end closing activities and balance sheet reconciliations

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Accountant
  • Proficiency with NetSuite, including experience with AP, AR, invoicing, reporting, and cash applications
  • Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting processes, including month-end closings and reconciliations
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze and organize data effectively
  • Experience working with general ledger reports to identify and resolve errors
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
