Whitman is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the Treasurer-Collector's Office in the position of Department Assistant-Payroll. This is a part-time Level 2 Step 1 position with an hourly pay rate of $24.51. The hourly rates for a Level 2 position range from $24.51 for a step 1 to $31.54 for a step 25. The work schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Duties and responsibilities require attention to detail and strict confidentiality. The primary function of the position is for the processing of the payroll including verifying, compiling and coding payroll for data input; preparing financial reports; maintaining records; reconciling accounts; performing other administrative tasks; and assisting the Treasurer-Collector. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with one or two years of payroll, accounting or financial experience or any equivalent combination of experience and education. Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, Town Bylaws, Microsoft Office programs is preferred. The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and accurately is required. The successful candidate shall consent to a CORI and Drug/Alcohol Screening.
