We are seeking a part-time, enthusiastic, and qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2/3) to join our friendly dispensary team. Our dispensary plays a key part in looking after our patients ensuring their medications are prepared safely, accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will be flexible, organised, and a strong team player and able to offer friendly support to our patients.
Job Responsibility:
Processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and extant legislation
Supporting the dispensary supervisor / Lead GP in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times
Supporting the multi-disciplinary team in line with the strategic objectives of the practice
Dispensing and checking medication in line with legal and practice standards
Helping patients with prescription queries and collecting charges
Processing repeats and keeping accurate electronic records
Supporting stock control, ordering, and rotation
Maintaining a safe, tidy dispensary and following SOPs
Working closely with GPs, nurses, and reception teams
Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol
Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable
Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy
Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines
Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within agreed time-frame
Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
Process prescription requests via email, phone, fax, face-to-face and online
Processing Dossett boxes
Assisting the Dispensary Supervisor in the preparation of monthly returns
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
Maintain accurate records at all times, coding entries appropriately
Requirements:
Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2/3)
GCSE (or equivalent) English & Maths at Grade C or above
Experience of working in a dispensary
Experience of working in primary care
Broad knowledge of General Practice
Experience working with the general public/patients
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Strong IT skills
Clear, polite telephone manner
Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
EMIS / Systmone / Vision user skills
Ability to promote best practice regarding all pharmaceutical matters
Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
