The contractor shall perform support for brand inspector services, including but not limited to the completion and issuing official certificates for inspecting livestock, wool, pelts, hides, or carcasses for brands and ownership as provided in Wyoming Statutes 11-20-201 et seq. and as required and instructed by the Wyoming Livestock Board. The contractor is responsible for the collection of fees and all record-keeping duties as directed for accountability purposes. This contractor will mainly work in Fremont County with area producers, along with assisting the Riverton Livestock Market. This is a part-time position.
Job Responsibility:
Perform support for brand inspector services
Complete and issue official certificates for inspecting livestock, wool, pelts, hides, or carcasses for brands and ownership
Collect fees and perform all record-keeping duties as directed
Physically inspect livestock, wool, pelts, hides, or carcasses for brands and ownership
Act as an agent of the Wyoming Livestock Board regarding additional assigned duties in Animal Health, Animal identification or tracebacks, Animal Welfare, Public Safety, Law Enforcement assistance
Collect and account for all applicable Brand Inspection, Beef Council, or Predatory Animal Control fees
Responsible for the upkeep and accurate inventory of all agency-issued equipment, forms, documents, and tools
Attend orientation and training sessions
Keep informed of and comply with all applicable state laws, rules, and regulations
Submit all related fees, certificates, and reports to the Agency promptly
Keep daily timesheets
Requirements:
Experience in the production of livestock and/or a state agricultural inspection and/or regulatory program (preference)
Valid driver's license
Knowledge of the livestock industry
Knowledge of safe livestock handling techniques
Knowledge of basic recordkeeping and accounting skills
Knowledge of State livestock laws, animal health laws, and Wyoming Livestock Board rules and regulations
Knowledge of livestock inspection programs
Skill in oral and written communications with the public
Ability to embrace new technologies
Ability to lift 40 lbs
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions with frequent travel
