Job Description

Broster Buchanan is working in partnership with a leading not for profit organisation as they recruit a Part Time Assistant Management Accountant to join them to drive significant change and transformation to accounting systems and processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Building strong working relationships across the organisation to deliver a genuinely value-adding finance service
  • producing first-stage analysis and variance commentary at month and year end
  • supporting the preparation of forecasts and longer-term financial plans, including ongoing monitoring and reporting
  • meeting regularly with budget holders to review spend against plan — spotting, resolving, or escalating issues early
  • acting as a first point of contact for finance questions and queries, responding promptly and helpfully

Requirements

  • Experience in a busy, customer-focused finance role
  • solid management accounting skills — budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting, with the ability to identify and explain variances
  • excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
  • strong communication skills, including explaining complex information to non-specialists
  • confidence working both independently and as part of a team
  • strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office, and an eye for using systems to support clear reporting

Nice to have

  • Part-qualification (or equivalent experience) towards a recognised accountancy qualification CCAB (ACA / CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA)
  • experience with finance systems and reporting tools such as Power BI and SAP
