The City of Arkansas City is seeking a dependable, skilled, and self-motivated Parks & Facilities Maintenance Technician to support maintenance and repair of City parks, facilities, and infrastructure, with a focus on electrical systems, lighting, and traffic signal maintenance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to safe, clean, and functional public spaces.
Job Responsibility:
Perform basic electrical maintenance and repairs, including lighting systems, outlets, switches, panels (non-licensed work only), and facility electrical components
Assist with maintenance, inspection, and repair of traffic signals, pedestrian signals, signage lighting, and related traffic control infrastructure
Report complex electrical or signal issues requiring licensed or specialized service
Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of City parks, facilities, buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure
Diagnose maintenance issues and complete repairs in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, concrete, irrigation, and minor construction
Perform preventive maintenance activities to extend the life and safety of City assets
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment and vehicles, including mowers, tractors, trucks, loaders, lifts, and power tools
Perform routine inspections, servicing, and minor repairs of assigned equipment
Ensure proper use, storage, and care of City tools and assets
Support maintenance and set up for parks, facilities, programs, events, and rentals
Perform cemetery grounds and facility maintenance tasks as assigned
Assist with seasonal operations including snow removal, debris removal, and storm response
Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Maintain basic records related to work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance
Communicate work progress, safety concerns, and repair needs to the supervisor

Ensure compliance with safety procedures and promote safe work practices
Attend required training, certifications, and safety meetings
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in parks maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, electrical maintenance, or a related field
Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the employer
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test
Nice to have:
Experience of performing basic electrical maintenance or traffic signal support
Experience with facilities systems, lighting, irrigation, or infrastructure maintenance
Certifications or training related to maintenance trades or equipment operation
