Job Description:

Assist students with speech and language needs under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role plays a vital part in supporting students’ communication development by reinforcing therapy goals, assisting during sessions, and helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the Speech-Language Pathologist during individual and group therapy sessions
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce speech and language goals
  • Assist students with articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive/receptive language activities
  • Help implement and support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems when applicable
  • Track and document student progress and share observations with the SLP and teaching team
  • Assist with classroom accommodations and modifications to support communication development
  • Provide behavioral and emotional support to help students remain engaged and successful
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student outcomes
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s degree preferred)
  • Prior experience working with children or students with speech and language needs preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
  • Ability to follow therapy plans and guidance provided by the SLP
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
