Assist students with speech and language needs under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role plays a vital part in supporting students’ communication development by reinforcing therapy goals, assisting during sessions, and helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Speech-Language Pathologist during individual and group therapy sessions
Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce speech and language goals
Assist students with articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive/receptive language activities
Help implement and support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems when applicable
Track and document student progress and share observations with the SLP and teaching team
Assist with classroom accommodations and modifications to support communication development
Provide behavioral and emotional support to help students remain engaged and successful
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student outcomes
Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies and procedures
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s degree preferred)
Prior experience working with children or students with speech and language needs preferred
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
Ability to follow therapy plans and guidance provided by the SLP
CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
