Job Description:

PARAMEDIC POSITION AVAILABLE. Provides Advanced Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides Advanced Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization
  • Responds to emergency rescue situations
  • Maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene
  • Provides training to lesser trained personnel
  • Provides and directs Advanced Life Support utilizing techniques like IV lines, advanced airways, intubations, drug therapy, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation
  • Recognizes medical emergencies and makes differential diagnoses
  • Performs critical physical examinations
  • Recognizes cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Understands pharmacological treatment
  • Manages non-cardiac emergencies
  • Deals with medical and emotional needs of victims
  • Manages and directs first responders at scene
  • Responsible for quality patient-care
  • Files standardized reports of patient information
  • Maintains communication with physician
  • Follows protocols when physician unavailable
  • Transports patients
  • Operates emergency vehicles safely
  • Completes patient statistics and forms
  • Performs technical rescues
  • Follows company policies and procedures
  • Cleans and maintains equipment
  • Cleans and maintains vehicles and living quarters
  • Maintains records

Requirements:

  • Paramedic Licensure
  • CPR for the Health Care Provider
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Good knowledge of the street systems, addresses and physical layout of the area
  • Good knowledge of rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in Advanced Life Support
  • Good ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Good ability to understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of victims
  • Good ability to maintain a professional and objective approach
  • Good ability to learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills
  • Good ability to perform mechanical work for equipment maintenance
  • Good ability to direct work of and teach other personnel
  • Good ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Good ability to maintain a professional attitude
  • Good ability to establish effective working relationships
  • Good ability to drive and operate emergency ambulance units
  • Good ability to author reports
  • Must attend continuing education to maintain certification
  • Must be able to operate vehicles, move equipment, and extract injured persons from varied terrain
  • Must be able to carry patients
  • Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with patients
  • Must wear and maintain company uniform
  • Must carry company pager/radio at all times
