Job Description:

As a Paramedic, you will provide advanced emergency medical care and transport to critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings.Every day you will rapidly assess scenes, evaluate conditions, and administer life-saving interventions, while safely operating emergency vehicles and documenting care.To be successful, you will demonstrate expert clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking under stress, and compassionate communication, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide advanced emergency medical care and transport to critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings
  • Rapidly assess scenes, evaluate conditions, and administer life-saving interventions
  • Safely operate emergency vehicles
  • Document care
  • Assure quality of care by following the scope of practice provided by the National EMS Scope of Practice Model and further outlined by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services
  • Align role within functions set forth by CHI Saint Joseph Health
  • Administer BLS, PALS, ACLS and critical care interventions following the orders and supervision of the attending physician
  • Perform triage, assessments, interventions and patient education as needed
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records in a timely manner
  • Promote patient’s independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals
  • teaching patients, friends and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills
  • answering questions
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support

Requirements:

  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire
  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire
  • Vocational School Grad Graduate from a nationally/state approved accrediting paramedic program., upon hire
  • 1-3 years 2 years of experience as a paramedic in a high volume patient care services, approved Critical Care endorsement, previous aeromedical, or clinical ER experience., upon hire
  • Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: KY, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
