Provides quality patient care and education in accordance with policies and state regulations as approved by Medical Director and professional standards of care. Duties require working, transporting, and driving in all weather conditions.
Job Responsibility:
Completes skills check in a timely manner with accuracy
Maintains clean environment to include base and maintaining vehicles in a mission ready status
Provides accurate and legible documentation of patient care
Provides quality patient care and education in accordance with policies and state regulations
Administers medications and IV solutions safely, correctly and per policy
Follows guidelines and procedures independently when Medical Control is not available
Assists with other activities which includes but not limited to public relations and marketing activities when needed
Follows safety guidelines and procedures
Follows vehicle assignments as needed/directed by department
Drive in accordance with Advocate Health policy as well as local and state regulations
Requirements:
High school graduate or GED
Successful completion of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program
Current applicable state EMT-P certification
SC EMT-P and National Registry Paramedic required within 90 days of hire and required to be maintained throughout employment
BCLS and ACLS required
Approved trauma certification required within 6 months of employment
Advocate Health approved driving course to be completed within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment required
One-year active field pre-hospital experience
Must have a valid driver's license and qualify as insurable by Advocate Health insurance carrier requirements for driving MedCenter Air vehicles
Must have had a driver's license for a minimum of 2 years
Must have an operational smartphone for use as communication device related to MedCenter Air operations
Annual completion of safety briefings and annual survival training required
Nice to have:
SC EMT-P and National Registry Paramedic certifications preferred at time of hire
Three years total paramedic experience preferred
PALS, S.T.A.B.L.E. and NRP preferred
