Paralympic Physiotherapist (Maternity Leave cover) Fixed term 9-12 months part time (minimum 3 days per week). Provide medical support for paralympic athletes at the HiPAC in Loughborough.
Job Responsibility:
Provide outstanding medical support for paralympic athletes at the HiPAC in Loughborough.
Manage a caseload of athletes on the Paralympic World Class Program (WCP) providing specific input on the Individual Athlete Planning process, highlighting problems for athletes and work on bespoke problem-solving solutions to address any issues found.
Develop strong impactful relationships with athletes and their external practitioners.
Work in conjunction with UK Athletics Paralympic Doctor, Paralympic Consultant Physiotherapist and Head of Therapy and Medicine to provide excellent medical care for athletes.
There may be opportunities to travel to training camps and competitions across senior paralympic programs.
In collaboration with the wider MDT provide rehabilitation plans for caseloads of athletes on WCP as required.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with the Key Paralympic stakeholders such as Head Coach and athlete Engagement Leads.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all athletes on the program.
Ensure clean handover of information from case load of athletes to wider team of therapists based around the country
Ensure that the delivery of physiotherapy effectively meets the sport’s commitments to athletes, coaches and the National Governing Body.
All medical notes must be kept on the UK Athletics electronic note taking system (PDMS)
Within the rules of professional confidentiality liaise with athletes, parents, coaches and other support staff as appropriate.
Comply with Professional Codes of Conduct, standards and guidelines.
Contribute to knowledge development and sharing across the organisation to support the development of world class physiotherapy services and the high-performance system.
Work within and enforce the UK Athletics values, behaviours and culture.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years elite sport experience (Essential)
Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) (Essential)
BSc Physiotherapy
Experience working in track and field (Desirable)
Experience in elite sports rehabilitation and programming (Desirable)
Experience of working with performance Paralympic athletes (Desirable)
High level of rehabilitation and reconditioning
High level of manual therapy skills
An understanding of the performance demands and needs of elite Paralympic athletes and coaches.
An ability to form strong relationships quickly with athletes, coaches and wider support teams.
Nice to have:
Masters qualification in physiotherapy or rehabilitation (Desirable)
Strength and conditioning, Pilates and athletics coaching qualifications (Desirable)
