We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to join a litigation team in Emeryville, California. This position supports attorneys from initial case development through trial, with a strong focus on document review, deadline management, and coordination across courts and third parties. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, strong organizational ability, and experience handling complex matters in a fast-moving legal setting.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and condense medical, billing, and other case-related records into clear summaries for attorney review
Prepare, send, and monitor subpoenas for documents, witnesses, and court matters across various jurisdictions
Work with courts, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, and external organizations to secure records and supporting materials
Oversee litigation calendars and track filing dates, court deadlines, and follow-up tasks to keep matters progressing on schedule
Assemble pleadings, discovery materials, exhibit sets, deposition summaries, and trial notebooks for active cases
Support attorneys before depositions and hearings by organizing witness information, exhibits, and related case documents
Submit legal filings to county and state courts, including electronic filing when required by the jurisdiction
Maintain orderly electronic and paper case files so documents are accessible, complete, and up to date
Assist with trial logistics by preparing exhibits, coordinating materials, and ensuring readiness for hearings and courtroom proceedings
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, service providers, and other case contacts
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience supporting litigation matters in a paralegal capacity
Demonstrated ability to review and summarize medical records in document-heavy cases
Working knowledge of subpoena practices and court filing procedures across multiple counties or jurisdictions
Prior experience preparing cases for trial, including exhibit and document organization
Familiarity with litigation timelines, court rules, and procedural requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management platforms
Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
Paralegal certification or comparable practical experience is preferred
