We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to support a busy commercial real estate practice in Durham, North Carolina. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can independently manage complex transactions from initial documentation through closing while partnering closely with senior leadership and outside counsel. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, exceptional organization, and the confidence to operate effectively in a small, collaborative office environment.
Job Responsibility:
Manage commercial real estate matters across the full transaction lifecycle, including reviewing documents, tracking milestones, and supporting deal execution
Coordinate purchase agreements, contract documentation, and related transaction materials to help keep matters accurate and on schedule
Oversee closing preparation by organizing checklists, gathering required documents, and communicating with all parties involved in the transaction
Work directly with outside counsel to facilitate legal correspondence, resolve documentation needs, and maintain momentum on active deals
Partner with executives and other internal stakeholders, providing clear updates and practical support on time-sensitive real estate matters
Maintain well-structured files, calendars, and transaction records to ensure smooth handling of multiple concurrent deals
Contribute flexibly within a small team setting, assisting with priority tasks as business needs evolve, including office relocation-related coordination when applicable
Requirements:
At least 5-7 years of paralegal experience, with a strong concentration in commercial real estate transactions
Demonstrated knowledge of real estate deal structures, documentation, and closing procedures from start to finish
Experience working with purchase agreements and other core transaction documents related to commercial real estate
Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with C-suite leaders, outside counsel, and external partners
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and detailed transactional workflows
Comfortable working independently in an environment without in-house counsel support for day-to-day transaction execution
Adaptable, team-oriented approach suited to a small, family-oriented office culture
Availability to work in a hybrid arrangement with 1 to 2 remote days per week
