Join a small and experienced legal team as a paralegal and gain hands-on experience in legal drafting and research. Casual or part-time, depending on flexibility required. Two days per week. Onsite in CBD office.
Job Responsibility:
Drafting ordinances (i.e. church legislation) and accompanying explanatory material in consultation with relevant parties and managing the ordinance process in conjunction with other members of the Legal Services Team
Assisting the Legal Services division in the delivery of legal support, including undertaking research
Assisting the Administration Officer to provide administrative support to the Legal Services division
Requirements:
Currently studying a law degree or legal qualification, or a person with existing paralegal experience
Meticulous, with an eye for detail
Strong writing skills, ideally with some exposure and experience drafting legal documents under supervision
Ability to execute projects to a deadline
Excellent phone manner and interpersonal skills
Ability to problem solve and seek clarification when required
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
Consistent with the ethos and values of the Sydney Anglican Offices, applicants for the position must have a demonstrated Christian commitment and be an active member of a church
Nice to have:
Exposure to and some understanding of the structure of Anglican Church Diocese of Sydney is advantageous
