We are looking for a skilled Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Springfield, Ohio. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to provide essential support in legal research, case preparation, and client assistance. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting low-income clients and engaging in various aspects of the legal process.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft documents such as pleadings, motions, and correspondence under attorney supervision
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and administrative proceedings by gathering evidence, organizing case files, and managing discovery
Interview clients to gather information, assess eligibility for legal services, and help address their legal needs
Represent clients at administrative hearings and support attorneys in all aspects of litigation
Develop a thorough understanding of state and federal court procedures, as well as administrative agency rules
Collaborate with attorneys to address recurring legal issues within the client community through negotiation, litigation, and community education
Maintain strong relationships with community organizations, social service agencies, and other legal service providers to enhance client support
Manage a reasonable caseload under attorney supervision, ensuring timely and high-quality legal assistance
Support the referral and case management processes established for private bar involvement programs.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on civil litigation or related areas
Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and trial preparation
Familiarity with case management software and tools commonly used in the legal field
Strong knowledge of discovery processes and litigation procedures
Ability to work effectively under attorney supervision while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent communication and organizational skills to support client interactions and case management
Understanding of legal procedures in both federal and state courts
Commitment to providing high-quality legal assistance to low-income or underserved clients.
