We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to support legal operations within a non-profit organization. This long-term contract position is based in Oakbrook, Illinois, and offers an opportunity to collaborate on subrogation cases, legal investigations, and settlement negotiations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and compliance in legal documentation and reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and investigate subrogation cases, including opening files and monitoring liens
Address inquiries and resolve issues with attorneys, participants, and providers in a timely manner
Maintain and update case tracking systems, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-ups
Draft and send correspondence related to case updates, settlements, or liens to relevant parties
Identify potential third-party payers to maximize recovery opportunities for the organization
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and trustee reports detailing subrogation activities and case statuses
Oversee subrogation efforts conducted by external service providers and ensure compliance with standards
Negotiate settlements to optimize recovery for the organization and prepare recommendations for approval
Conduct legal research and collaborate with internal teams to resolve subrogation-related questions
Train and mentor assistants on subrogation processes while contributing to departmental goals
Requirements:
Proven experience in discovery, civil litigation, and trial preparation
Proficiency in case management software and legal research tools
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage settlements effectively
Exceptional organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Familiarity with subrogation processes and third-party payer identification
Ability to create detailed reports and maintain accurate legal documentation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders
