We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join a busy legal practice in Memphis, Tennessee on a Contract to permanent basis. This position is best suited for a senior-level candidate who can manage matters independently from initial intake through litigation support across criminal defense, civil litigation, and personal injury cases. The role is fully onsite Monday through Friday and requires someone who is already familiar with local court procedures and can contribute immediately without extensive training.
Job Responsibility
Oversee case progression from client intake through trial preparation and litigation support, ensuring files remain organized and deadlines are met
Prepare, submit, and track court filings using both electronic and physical filing methods in accordance with Shelby County requirements
Coordinate directly with attorneys, court personnel, clients, and outside parties to keep matters moving efficiently
Appear at the courthouse as needed to file documents, manage case-related logistics, and support active litigation matters
Maintain accurate case records, calendars, and documentation within MyCase and Microsoft 365
Assist with document drafting, discovery organization, and preparation of materials for hearings, motions, and other legal proceedings
Support legal work across criminal defense, civil litigation, and personal injury matters while adapting to shifting case priorities
Operate with a high level of independence in a fast-paced office environment where immediate productivity is essential
Requirements
At least 5 years of paralegal experience, with the ability to manage legal matters from intake through litigation
Prior hands-on experience working with Shelby County courts, including knowledge of local filing practices and court procedures
Demonstrated background in civil litigation, criminal defense, or personal injury law
Proficiency with case management systems, including MyCase, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365
Ability to handle both eFiling and in-person court filing responsibilities with accuracy and efficiency
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision
Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification preferred
