We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to support a nonprofit legal team handling active housing litigation in San Francisco. This contract role is ideal for someone who can quickly contribute in a fast-paced environment, assisting with case preparation, filings, client coordination, and trial support. The position requires strong litigation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and external parties in a mission-driven setting.
Job Responsibility
Prepare, format, and file legal documents for state and federal matters, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines
Draft and review case materials (correspondence, declarations, notices, orders) for accuracy, formatting, and citation consistency
Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and external parties to manage filings, service, calendars, and overall case progression
Conduct legal and factual research, assist with client intake, and support ongoing client communications and documentation needs
Organize case files and evidence for hearings and trial, while supporting administrative tasks like records requests, scheduling, and document management
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably including housing, worker's right, and/or immigration
Proven ability to support cases through all phases of litigation, including trial preparation
Strong drafting, proofreading, and document review skills with high attention to detail
Experience managing court filings, discovery, and organizing evidence in a litigation environment
Effective communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal software, and comfort working in a mission-driven setting
