Robert Half is seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to support a busy immigration practice in Newark, NJ. This role is best suited for a senior-level paralegal who can manage cases independently from initiation through resolution, with minimal supervision. Candidates must be confident working in a fast-paced environment and capable of handling complex immigration matters without extensive training or oversight.
Job Responsibility:
Manage immigration cases from intake through resolution, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all filings
Prepare, assemble, and file immigration applications and petitions, including Motions, VAWA matters, Removal of Conditions (I-751) cases, and Immigration Court / EOIR proceedings
Gather, organize, and review supporting documentation to ensure compliance with filing requirements and deadlines
Maintain organized and up-to-date case files using e-immigration case management software
Draft and manage legal memoranda, affidavits, declarations, briefs, and correspondence
Assist attorneys with legal research, including research related to immigration statutes, regulations, and procedural requirements
Draft and coordinate responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and court-related filings
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing case status updates and responding to inquiries professionally and clearly
Explain immigration processes and procedural requirements in a client-friendly and understandable manner
Manage calendars and critical deadlines for filings, hearings, and court appearances
Ensure timely preparation and submission of filings to avoid delays or compliance issues
Stay current on changes in immigration law, regulations, and policies, ensuring all filings remain compliant
Work closely with immigration attorneys to support case strategy, document preparation, and procedural compliance
Requirements:
Prior experience as an immigration paralegal is required (senior-level experience strongly preferred)
Demonstrated hands-on experience with: VAWA, EOIR / Immigration Court, Removal of Conditions (I-751), Motions practice
Strong working knowledge of immigration procedures, filings, and deadlines
Experience using immigration case management (e-immigration) software
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Strong communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills and comfort managing multiple active cases and deadlines
High attention to detail
Solid understanding of immigration law and regulatory requirements
Reliable, disciplined, accountable, and able to manage workflow autonomously in an on-site environment
