We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team in Chicago, Illinois, on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience by working closely with experienced attorneys in both state and federal courts. Job Responsibility:
Coordinate and schedule depositions, medical examinations, and other case-related appointments for attorneys
Obtain, review, and summarize medical records to support active case files
Organize and file legal documents, including exhibits, briefs, and appeals, while ensuring proper record-keeping for each case
Prepare affidavits, review trial transcripts, and monitor deadlines and calendars to provide administrative support to attorneys
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, medical experts, and other parties involved in legal matters
Assist attorneys with case management by tracking filing deadlines, billing requirements, and case progress
Proofread and edit legal documents and correspondence to ensure accuracy and professionalism
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to manage documentation and correspondence efficiently
Collaborate with the legal team to adapt to changing priorities and ensure smooth workflow
Requirements:
At least two years of experience in workers' compensation defense or personal injury defense
Proficiency in legal terminology, particularly medical terminology
Excellent writing, typing, and proofreading skills to produce accurate legal documents
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented setting
Exceptional communication skills for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and medical professionals
Commitment to working on-site as a member of the legal team
