We are looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to support a busy legal team in Oakland, California. This is an ongoing contract to fill in for an employee on leave. This is ideal for someone with hands-on civil litigation experience, particularly in personal injury matters, who can help keep cases moving efficiently from pre-trial preparation through key filing and scheduling activities. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with an expectation of on-site presence as needed, especially during active trial preparation periods. You will work closely with a small legal support team and contribute to timely, organized legal support across multiple upcoming trials.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate pre-trial activity by organizing timelines, tracking deadlines, and helping attorneys prepare case materials for upcoming hearings and trials
Arrange logistics for expert witnesses and depositions, including scheduling, document coordination, and communication with involved parties
Prepare, format, and submit court filings while ensuring documents meet procedural and jurisdictional requirements
Maintain calendars for litigation matters, monitor important dates, and help keep case activity aligned with court and client schedules
Assist with discovery-related tasks and provide higher-level case support when matters require additional follow-up or documentation
Support the exchange, organization, and management of case documents between attorneys, clients, experts, and outside parties
Help facilitate client and deposition scheduling to ensure smooth coordination across multiple active matters
Work on-site as needed during critical trial preparation periods and collaborate with the legal team in a hybrid office environment
Requirements:
At least 2 years of legal support or paralegal experience in a litigation setting
Background in plaintiff-side or defense-side personal injury work
Practical experience assisting with trial preparation in civil litigation matters
Working knowledge of court filings, e-filing procedures, and legal document formatting
Ability to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple case priorities with strong attention to detail
Comfortable handling scheduling related to depositions, experts, clients, and other case participants
Strong organizational and communication skills in a collaborative office environment
Paralegal certification is not required for this role
