Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Paralegal specializing in medical malpractice to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex litigation cases and support attorneys in the preparation and management of legal matters. If you have a strong background in civil litigation and are detail-oriented, this position is an excellent match for your skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Review medical records thoroughly to extract relevant information for case development
  • Prepare and issue subpoena requests to gather necessary documentation
  • Summarize and abstract key details from medical records and other case materials
  • Draft pleadings and other legal documents to support case proceedings
  • Manage case calendars, ensuring deadlines are tracked and met accurately
  • Perform electronic filing in both state and federal courts
  • Conduct investigations to gather facts and evidence for medical malpractice cases
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating witness schedules

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in medical malpractice or civil litigation
  • Proficient in discovery processes and trial preparation
  • Strong knowledge of case management software and electronic medical record systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting legal documents and e-filing procedures
  • Familiarity with litigation processes and subpoena handling
  • Excellent organizational skills, including calendaring and deadline management
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and legal teams
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
