Porzio is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal with expertise in New York litigation to support our legal team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have experience handling litigation tasks from inception to trial.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare, file and e-file legal documents in NYS Supreme Court, NYC Civil Court and Federal Court
Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, local, and judges’ rules for filing and procedures
Draft, review, and proofread a variety of legal documents
Assist in the preparation of pleadings, motion papers, discovery responses and privilege logs
Coordinate document production, including communicating with clients, reviewing/redacting, organizing and Bates Stamping documents for production
Organize and support depositions, arbitrations, mediations and trial (exhibit and binder prep)
Calendar court appearances, discovery deadlines, motion deadlines, and other litigation-related deadlines
Review of medical records and preparation of medical summaries
Requirements:
College degree required
paralegal certification preferred but not required
Minimum 5 years of experience in NY litigation
Strong understanding NY law, including the CPLR and NYSCEF filing protocols
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in legal research tools and document management systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated initiative, ability to handle caseload, and ability to represent firm in a professional manner
Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational, technology and interpersonal skills
Ability to use office equipment, such as computer, copier, and scanner
Flexibility in daily work schedule to meet firm's needs during periods of heavy workload
