We are looking for approximately 3 full time Paralegals to join our expanding Interventions Team. Our Interventions Team holds national contracts to deliver Intervention Services for the three major legal regulators in England and Wales: Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), Bar Standards Board (BSB). These regulators intervene into law firms or individual practitioners where statutory grounds exist, and when they do, Stephensons is appointed to act as the Intervention Agent. As a Paralegal in the team, you will support and assist with all stages of the intervention process. This is an exceptionally unique area of practice where no two days are the same. You will gain experience across multiple areas of law including conveyancing, crime, family, PI, wills and probate, commercial matters and more. You will be central to the smooth running of the intervention process and play an important role in safeguarding client interests.
Job Responsibility:
Attending the premises of intervened firms
Evaluating and categorising practice papers, accounting records and client files
Taking possession of client data and securing sensitive information
Identifying urgent matters and dealing with immediate enquiries
Assisting managers and supervisors in sorting, selecting and marking files
Attending Day One interventions across the UK, sometimes at short notice
Reviewing client files for evidence of misconduct or costs that may be due
Responding to queries from clients, new solicitors, suppliers and third parties
Recording all interactions and actions in detail on our case management systems
Monitoring live files and flagging urgent issues
Confirming client identity and authority for file transfer requests
Repatriating files to clients or their chosen solicitors
Identifying clients or businesses who may be entitled to outstanding funds
Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
Accurate time recording
Assisting with general accounts work and financial queries
Preparing relevant data for regulator meetings
Working flexibly across office and home settings, depending on departmental needs
Requirements:
Experience dealing with customers/clients
Comfortable handling high volumes of phone calls
Experience working in a busy environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good IT skills including Excel
Adaptability, flexibility and strong organisational skills
Professional telephone manner

Nice to have:
Experience working at paralegal level in a law firm
Degree‑level education, ideally with a legal focus
Knowledge of SRA intervention processes
Understanding of solicitors’ accounts rules
Familiarity with client care and complaints procedures
Basic understanding of wills and deeds
Valid UK driving licence
