Amentum is seeking a Painter located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Painter will paint and redecorates walls, woodwork and fixtures. The painter must be knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications, preparing surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, and applying paint with spray gun or brush.
Job Responsibility
Mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency
Stand or kneel for extended periods of time
Erect scaffolding/ladders safely, operate ventilation equipment, and clean up tools and work areas daily
Apply paint, stains, varnish, and sealers using brushes, rollers, and spray guns
Calculate paint needs and blend materials for the correct color and texture
Perform structural repairs (e.g., drywall repairs) and remove old finishes, including stripping or sanding
Work may involve working at heights (ladders/scaffolding)
Covering trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint
Setting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect Painters from unhealthy fumes
Removing and reinstalling fixtures (e.g., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary

Previous experience as a painter (residential or commercial) is preferred
Familiarity with different paints, coatings, and application tools
Ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and stand for long periods
Ability to obtain or have a government issued clearance at time of application
